On Thursday 12th June, the Civic Centre in Poulton-le-Fylde buzzed with opportunity as over thirty business delegates from across the Fylde Coast gathered for a dynamic and insightful workshop hosted by Wyre Council. The focus? Unlocking the secrets to successfully tendering for public sector contracts – and the room was packed with ambition.
This wasn’t just another business event. It was a golden opportunity to hear directly from procurement experts at both Wyre and Lancashire County Councils. Attendees gained a rare behind-the-scenes look at how councils of different sizes operate, and what that means for businesses looking to win contracts. The session also unpacked the upcoming changes in procurement legislation — crucial knowledge for any business aiming to stay ahead of the curve.
But the real highlight? Nikki Hesford from The Small Business Academy shared her powerful, real-world experience of successfully tendering with both councils. Her story was not only inspiring but packed with practical tips that attendees could take away and apply immediately.
The Q&A session was electric. Burning questions were asked – and answered. Delegates left with actionable advice, new contacts, and a clearer path to public sector success. They also discovered additional platforms and support channels to explore beyond the usual tendering portals.
