How to Attract More Customers – A Successful Evening of Insight and Collaboration
Our recent Wyred Up EduSocial: How to Attract More Customers event proved to be a great success, leaving attending businesses with practical knowledge, fresh connections, and new ideas to take forward.
Led by Dr John Barlow of HUB62, a visitor economy specialist with more than 25 years’ experience, the evening focused on what truly drives customer satisfaction and loyalty in today’s fast‑changing environment. Businesses gained valuable insight into current customer satisfaction statistics, emerging trends in how customers discover and engage with businesses, and the growing importance of collaboration as part of a successful growth strategy.
One of the highlights of the session was the exploration of two high street case studies, where John and his team have been working directly with local businesses to improve footfall. These real‑world examples demonstrated how collaboration can deliver tangible results, with participating businesses achieving 8 – 10% increases in footfall – and in some cases more.
The session also focused on the two key factors that matter most in building long‑term customer loyalty, alongside practical guidance on how digital marketing and social media play a vital role in improving a business’s online visibility and reach. Attendees left with clearer ideas on how to work smarter with the content and platforms they are already using, rather than feeling overwhelmed by digital marketing.
Collaboration emerged as a strong theme throughout the evening, and its impact was felt immediately. Nearly all attendees have since connected via social media and email, with many now exploring opportunities to work together on future promotions and campaigns to expand their audience reach collectively.

The relaxed, informal atmosphere encouraged meaningful conversations, helped along by the welcome appearance of local business KeeKee’s Pizza, who briefly popped in with Pizzas for everyone, before heading back to the woodfire oven — a much‑appreciated local touch to the evening. Even more welcome was the opportunity to provide welcome feedback on a new product for Jerry Can Spirits who offered everyone a ‘nip’ of his new flavoured rum – delicious! Plush of Cleveleys also scented the room with samples of their popular fragrances which are sold in their award winning gift shop!
Overall, the EduSocial delivered exactly what it set out to do: practical learning, new connections, and inspiration for businesses looking to attract more customers by working collaboratively, embracing digital tools, and focusing on customer experience. Our next event will be advertised to members first in our Wyred Up newsletter.
Hi ED Team!
I’d just like to share a bit of a success story and give a special mention to Lucy @ Fernhill Farm.
She posted a picture and some content of me online at the event last night, and I received an enquiry first thing this morning from one of her contacts.
I’ve sent a quote over to a local customer who we may get an order from 😊Proof in the pudding!
Hope it’s a been a success for everyone else too.
Thanks again.
Kind regards,
Paul Armitage
